Established over 40 years...

Bonthrone Bikes UK was founded in London by cycling enthusiast David Bonthrone. Once a member of the London Delaun Cycling Club, David's love of cycling began in the fifties where you could find him thrashing around on anything with two wheels! He has been involved with the cycling business for 40 years and has been described by one retailer he used to call on as "the best and most reliable salesperson I can remember!" ...is there such a thing? - we think there is! The passion for bikes continued with a series of cycle sales and managerial positions working in the bicycle industry.

Our first bike shop in the UK

David decided on opening a cycle shop whilst a salesperson at the Holdsworth bicycle company in the 70's. The first Bonthrone Bike shop opened in Kingston Upon Thames and was a was a great success, selling mountain bikes, road bikes, BMX and kids bikes in amazingly large numbers for a small shop! "on a Saturday we could sell up to 50 bikes from our small London bike shop... I loved making customers happy... hence much of our business was from returning customers or word of mouth".
Bonthrone's 'straight-up' approach seems to be what people appreciated and despite a few ups and downs, Bonthrone Bikes are now one of Britains best known bicycle shops as well as one of the UK's biggest online bike stores with 18,000 bicyle products available serving cyclists all over the UK and Europe.

Since Bonthrone Bikes opened it's first bicycles stores it now has several warehouses to hold the massive selection of bikes that we now stock. It's the only way we could buy in large enough quantities and get you the best and lowest prices on bikes, bike parts and cycling accessories. Our bicycle warehouses have over a 1000 bikes (all top brand cycles) in stock - situated in several places around the United Kindom. You could try our UK Fulham Road store in London that caters for all your cycling needs with a large selection of cheap cycling accessories, road gear and bike clothing - many of which are discounted or if you prefer, just use our online secure UK bike shop and take advantage of blanket customer discounts. Our aim is to offer unbeatable value, friendly service and advice to every type of cyclist, from the first time buyer to the dedicated bike rider. We also work with companies directly offering services such as our 'Bike To Work' scheme. From the team: We hope we can be of assistance to everyone, even if it's just for some friendly cycling help or bike advice! You may find, when visiting our cycling shops, that some of our parts and products appear cheapest on our bike store web site. This is due to the fact that bikes bought in store come with a FREE 1-month service and also it is due to the difference in the cost of running a high street retail outlet as opposed to an internet cycle shop. We do, however, encourage customers to visit our UK London bike shop as well as our internet store where you may benefit from first hand advice and help from our colleagues. If you can't resist our cheaper than in store internet bike special offers and wish to purchase in store, please be aware that there may be a 10% surcharge on the internet price of some products to cover the cost of overheads running a high street store.
