The History of Cannondale Bikes...

This is what they say: The Cannondale bike company has come far since starting in a loft above a pickle factory way back in 1971 when it made the cycling industry's first bicycle trailer! Cannondale grew fast in the early years adding cycling apparel and bike accessory products getting a good reputation for innovation and high quality.

This good image was put to use when Cannondale eveloped its first bicycle - a touring bike in 1983. Then came a road racing bike and a mountain bike in 84'. Cannondale bikes impressed the cycling world by building bicycles with hand crafted aluminum frames that were lighter and more flex resistant than steel cycles that took most of the market at the time. Cannondale with its great reputation made bike shops and customers to give their bicycles a try and some intial skepticism soon disappeared and led to many imitators!
