What are the different types of bike now available?...
In the last ten or fifteen years or so the number of different types of bikes and bicycle riding styles available has probably tripled with the advent of new mountain biking and road bike disciplines.
Road biking for instance is now split into various categories including cyclocross racing, road bike racing, urban bicycles, city and commuter bikes, cruisers and choppers (laid back american style street riding bikes) and triathlon or triathlon racing.
Mountain biking has mushroomed into five or six different types of riding including 4 Cross bike riding, downhill mountain bike riding (DH), Freeride mountain biking and dirt jump mountain bike riding amongst others.
Touring is a great pastime that combines the speed of road riding with the relaxation and fun of site seeing. Follow these pages for more on touring bicycles.
BMX riding is now split into bmx racing, bmx freestlyle, bmx dirt jump and recently we've had the appearance of flatland bmx tricks which involve a kind of gymnastics on the bike without really leaving the ground. It's akin to watching ballet on a BMX but a lot more exciting!!!
