Norco Bikes

What they say wfw: Canadians have always been a proud people. Why not? Just look at what we've brought to the world: William Shatner, Celine, Shania and the Quebecois party drink—Caribou—to name a few. When it comes to bringing Canada and the world high performance bikes, Norco is a proud member of this incredible tradition of only delivering the best. Heck, when it comes to designing and building bikes, and understanding what it takes to move a simple idea from a sketch into reality, us folks here at Norco have been setting the standard for over 3 decades. This year is our 40 year anniversary—an awesome achievement when so many other companies have come and gone during this same span of time.

From our humble beginnings in a Burnaby, BC garage, we've never been content to pander to the lowest common denominator, nor have we catered to generation X, Y or Z. Instead, our focus has always been on delivering high performance bikes that real people ride. That's why there's no other Canadian bike company that can say it makes mountain bikes, hybrids, cruisers, kids, road and BMX bikes.

At Norco, we've always had a different approach to bikes and our customers. We've sponsored dozens of grassroots events, riders and up-and-coming pros. We also have Eastern and Western Tech trucks and staff that provide invaluable neutral mechanical support at provincial and national racing events. All the marketing and advertising in the world could never replace this unique channel for design ideas and product feedback. Throughout our history, our mantra has always been quality and innovation. You could say that we're another great argument against the myth of the Canadian Brain-Drain. We think our accomplishments speak for themselves:

1973 - Developed and delivered the first full suspension BMX bikes to Canada.
1977 - Set up first Western Canadian bike and wheel assembly plant.
1984 - One of the first Canadian bike companies to design and manufacture mountain bikes for the Canadian market.
1991 - First Bike Company to modify production frame geometry to accommodate front suspension forks, now called “suspension specific geometry,” an industry standard.
1994 - Developed and released the first interrupted seat tube, fully active, full suspension bike for the Canadian market.
1996 - First Canadian company to sponsor a full trials team and develop a trials specific production frame.
1997 - Introduced monocoque framed variable position suspension (VPS).
2000 - Dealers rate Norco Performance Bikes the number one bike line in Canada during an independent third party survey.
2003 - Supercross bike, One25, wins Mountain Biking Magazine's Bike of the Year Award.
2003 - VPS Fest. First ever bike industry bike owner appreciation day. VPS owners given a 1/2-price day lift ticket for the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, and over $7000 of product given away.

A lot of the great success Norco has experienced over the years is due to its great staff: people who are passionate about biking and committed to delivering the goods. Our history is in our pride, and our pride is our history. Canada—thank you for believing and supporting us for the last 40 years.
