A basic overview of Handlebars
Handlebars are the link between you and your bike. They are one of the most critical points of the whole cycling experienece - allowing you to control you bike and centrating the power of your legs and body through your bars to the road.

Different Types of Handlebars
Which bars should I choose?.. There are many different types of handlebars - in all shapes, colours and sizes. The bars you decide to buy will affect the overall ride and feel of your bike and along with the quality of the other components on your bicycle - make it a good or bad experience.

Sizes, Fitting & Bar Variations
Riserbars will fit with mos clamps with a bit of adjustment but sometimes you will find compatibility issues so be aware of this when buying. Bar variations such as width, drop size (on drop bars) and others will effect overall riding performance depending on the type riding you are doing. Talk to your bike shops or bicycle store if you are unsure about fitting or call us on 020 7731 5005.

Advice Specifically on RiserBars
Variations in riser bars are normally in sweep, width and up sweep (thats the angling of the bars each side of the clamp). Riser handlebars are now commonly used in mountain biking and off-road bikes. These bars - rather than just be made of a straight peice of metal from side to side, have a small rise each side of the handlebar clamp and then each side - left and right mabe further raised at an angle to raise the overal riding position of the rider.

BMX / Some Dirt Jump Clamp Sizes (mm)
Normally 22.2 is the smallest clamp size for steel or chrome-molly handlebars. Ask your bike shop or cycle store if you are unsure about exactly which size clamp fits which bars or call us.

Mountain Bikes Clamp Size (mm)
The most common mountaub bike handlebar size is 25.4. Ask your bike shop or cycle store if you are unsure about exactly which size clamp fits which bars or call us.

Increased Handle Bar Size for Strength
You may want to try 31.8 for a beefier stronger bar if you are doing some serious off roading. Ask your bike shops or cycle stores if you are unsure about exactly which size clamp fits which bars or call us on 020 7731 5005.

Handlebar 'Width' - what is it?
This is the width of the handlebars from end to end. A narrow bar gives less turning power so the bike is more sensitive to small movements at least through the bars - both not so good on tough terrain. A wider bar gives a stable ride, better, control and often are better for sprinting.

Handle Bar 'Sweep' - what is it?
Handlebars may sweep backwards, up or both. This is the angle the bar is measured in degrees to deviate from where the clamp is. The sweep can give the riders hands a more natural and comfortable grip and is a personal choice.

Handlebar 'Rise' - what is it?
This is the total rise from the stem clamp to the tips of the ends of the bars. More rise gives a higher ride and handling position of the bike. Higher rise gives more stability on steeper downhill terrain but not so good for steep climbs.
